As we prepare to celebrate the College’s centenary in 1929, we would like to take this opportunity to embrace our rich history and traditions and incorporate these in the planning stages of this momentous occasion.

Little did the Brigidine Sisters know 95 years ago how many people they would touch through their educational philosophy of Strength and Gentleness. Through the centenary celebrations, we would like to reminisce not only on our own personal journeys but also on the journeys of all members of our community – current and former students, staff and families, and weave these journeys through the celebrations.

As Brigidine College continues to grow, we reflect upon our long and rich history and beautiful traditions. As we prepare to celebrate our centenary, it is our desire to ensure the outstanding education provided to generations of young women, traditions and history are reflected and celebrated.

In preparation for the possible events to celebrate this momentous occasion, I am inviting all current students and their families, Alumnae, as well as current and past staff to a meeting at the College on Tuesday 30 April at 6 pm in the Rehearsal space of The Brigid Centre (Cecil Street is the best entrance) to discuss the ways and means to celebrate BCI 100.

There is no limit to the number of ideas, stories and events to consider. Following the collection of ideas, I would like to form a BCI 100 Committee to meet more regularly with the College over the next five years.

I look forward to working together to celebrate the history, traditions, and future of Brigidine College. It is certainly an exciting time.
